Critical Reflection
Advent is a vital season in the life of the Catholic school. The preparation season has an important role in the faith formation of schools, students and communities. Brisbane Catholic Education (2013) states that faith formation “is to nurture both those who are already actively engaged with a faith tradition and those who are yet to engage in a journey of explicit, active faith.” This active display and participation in Advent can be seen through prayer, classroom liturgy, Eucharist and non-Eucharist mass (Brisbane Catholic Education, 2015).
Evangelisation and faith formation of Catholic Education schools promotes and instils life-long learning and faith through hearing and responding to the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Brisbane Catholic Education, 2015). Through the meaningful practice of the liturgical seasons, understanding of Christian mysticism is gained and faith formation developed.
